Assistant HVAC Technician - Karin Grech Hospital

Steward Health Care Malta runs 3 hospitals across the Maltese Islands: Karin Grech Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital, and Gozo General Hospital.
We are recruiting a full time Assistant HVAC Technician to join our dynamic health care team at Karin Grech Hospital.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
- Installing and moving split air conditioning units as needed.
- Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on all air-conditioning and refrigeration systems within the campus as directed (e.g., working on maintenance requests from all departments etc).
- Diagnosing/repairing/replacing electronic components, mechanical parts, and electrical devices.
- Cleaning and disinfection of filters/condensers/evaporators/grills dampers and other air-conditioning or ventilation components as required.
- Following established company procedures and recording on job sheets all ancillary information including spare parts used, refrigerant type and quantity used etc. for a complete record.
- Reporting any faults to the Senior HVAC Technician and/or Maintenance Manager.
- Liaising with superior and with the stores and procurement to obtain replacement parts.
- Documenting all installed equipment and any changes made, including service history.
- Participating in educational and training activities as required by the assigned departments/organisation.
- Performing any further tasks as may be assigned from time to time by senior management and in line with the exigencies of the service.
- Performing all repairs in accordance to standing legislation and company policies.
The selected candidate should have:
Education:
- MQF Level 4 or higher related to Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning.
- Knowledge of mechanical and engineering principles.
- Knowledge of mathematics and physics.
- Knowledge of different materials and types of machines, primarily HVAC systems.
- The ability to draw sketches, interpret design drawings and understand engineering instructions.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
- Proficiency with repair tools and techniques.
- Strong knowledge of English and Maltese languages.
Work experience and knowledge:
- 1+ years in a facilities or maintenance technician with HVAC would be considered an asset.
Physical Requirements/Working conditions:
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions.
- Moderate noise level.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, crawl and climb for prolonged periods.
- Ability to push, pull and carry objects.
- Able to work at heights and climb a ladder.
